Sentinel Dome

Trail description

A 2.4 km walk with about 130 m of climbing from Glacier Point Road to the top of Sentinel Dome, a granite dome on the south wall of Yosemite Valley about 1.3 km south-west of Glacier Point. The summit gives a 360 degree view taking in Half Dome, El Capitan, Yosemite Falls and North Dome, and is a popular spot for stargazing. Its Southern Sierra Miwok name was Sak'-ka-du-eh. The Whitney survey named it Sentinel Dome for its likeness to a watchtower.
