Trail description

A 7.9 km climb of about 1,000 m on the Four Mile Trail from the floor of Yosemite Valley west of the Swinging Bridge area up the south wall to Glacier Point. The trail was built in 1872 and was then 4 miles long, and it kept its name when it was rebuilt and lengthened to 4.8 miles (7.7 km) in the early 1900s. It is remarkable for its views of most of the valley's landmarks, with grand views of El Capitan, Yosemite Falls and the Merced River on the way up.
