Trail description
The Longdendale Trail leaves Hadfield along the trackbed of the former Woodhead railway between Manchester and Sheffield, which closed east of Hadfield in 1981. The traffic free path follows a chain of reservoirs including Torside, passing the Torside car park and information point, and ends at the Woodhead Tunnels. Opened in May 1992, it forms part of the coast to coast Trans Pennine Trail.
