A nearly flat 3.7 km walk in Kamikochi from the shore of Taisho Pond by the Taisho-ike bus stop to the Kappabashi bridge, following the Azusa River past Tashiro Pond and the Weston relief at around 1,500 m. Taisho Pond was formed in 1915 when an eruption of the volcano Yakedake dammed the river. Kamikochi is closed to private cars and open only from spring to autumn.
