Mount Yufu

Trail description

A 2.9 km climb of about 750 m from the Yufu-tozanguchi trailhead on the road between Yufuin and Beppu, across the grassy lower slopes and up the zigzag path to the saddle between Mount Yufu's twin peaks, then on to the 1,580 m East peak, with views over the Yufuin basin and Beppu Bay. The slightly higher West peak at 1,583 m and the loop around the crater rim involve chains and a rocky scramble and are not part of this route. The round trip usually takes four to five hours.
