Trail description

From the base of the Beppu ropeway the Ikki trail climbs steadily through forest about 850 m to the summit of Mount Tsurumi (1,375 m), with views over Beppu, its steaming hot springs and Beppu Bay. Many walkers ride the ropeway down; the mountain is an active volcano and the trail closes when the alert level rises.
