Kumano Kodo Iseji Matsumoto Pass

Trail description

Matsumoto pass on the Iseji route of the Kumano Kodo links Odomari and Kinomoto in Kumano city, on a path through bamboo forest with much of its old stone paving left, above the sea cliffs of Onigajo. A rest hut at the pass looks over the long Shichiri-mihama beach. The life-size Jizo statue at the pass is said to have been shot on the day it was set up by someone who took it for a ghost.
