Trail description

A 3.1 km hike from Torfhaus to the Wolfswarte, a quartzite crag on the Bruchberg, at about 927 m the second-highest mountain in Lower Saxony. The Bruchberg lies in the core zone of the Harz National Park and is closed to the public apart from the paths to the Okerstein, the Branderklippe and the Wolfswarte, so keep to the marked way; a short stretch follows the Steile-Wand-Straße. The Wolfswarte is stamp point 135 of the Harzer Wandernadel, and the restored ski cross of the Altenau ski club stands nearby.
