Trail description

From the small car park in Withypool, a public footpath follows the River Barle upstream through riverside fields to Landacre Bridge, a favourite picnic spot where Exmoor ponies graze. The late medieval bridge has five pointed arches, is first recorded in 1610 and is both a scheduled monument and a Grade II* listed building. The Barle and its valley are a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
