Trail description
From Winsford village, a footpath climbs west onto the heather moorland of Winsford Hill and skirts the rim of The Punchbowl, a deep hollow that may have held the only Ice Age glacier on Exmoor. The route crosses the 428 metre top beside the Wambarrows, Bronze Age burial mounds, then returns past the Caratacus Stone, an inscribed stone first recorded in 1219, and down Halse Lane.
