Trail description

Starting at the National Trust Dovedale car park, the walk crosses the River Dove and climbs the steep grassy flank of Thorpe Cloud to its summit. This isolated limestone reef knoll guards the southern entrance to Dovedale and gives views north up the dale and south across the Midland plain. Its name comes from the Old English clud, meaning hill, and the National Trust acquired it in 1934.
