Trail description
From the car park at Wetton Mill in the Manifold Valley, the walk follows the lane towards Ecton and climbs grassy slopes to the summit of Ecton Hill, mined for copper and lead since at least the sixteenth century. Worked by the Dukes of Devonshire from 1760, Ecton became the richest copper mine in England, producing over sixty thousand tons of ore and employing 400 people by 1790.
