Trail description

From Rhyd Ddu the route follows a forestry road through a conifer plantation, then climbs a grassy ridge over Foel Rudd to the summit of Mynydd Mawr. The 698 m mountain overlooks Llyn Cwellyn, and its profile from the north earns it the nickname Yr Eliffant, the Elephant. On exceptionally clear days the view reaches the Llŷn Peninsula, Anglesey and the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland.
