Trail description
The Rhyd Ddu Path up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) from the west: 5.8 km with 877 m of climb from the car park at Rhyd Ddu on the A4085 to the summit. A wide track passes the old Ffridd slate quarry to Pen ar Lôn, then the path climbs the cairned Llechog ridge to Bwlch Main, a narrow ridge with steep drops on both sides that is the hardest part of the route, and the Watkin Path joins at a small standing stone just below the top. It is quieter than the paths from the Llanberis side, but the 60-space car park beside the Welsh Highland Railway can be full by 8:00 in the main season.
