Trail description

From the Lorna Doone car park at Malmsmead, where a 17th century packhorse bridge crosses Badgworthy Water beside an even older ford, a path follows the river south through the valley and Badgworthy Wood. The bridleway continues up the valley made famous by R. D. Blackmore's novel Lorna Doone to the remains of a deserted medieval village on the riverbank, whose last resident left in the 1820s.
