Säntis from Wasserauen via Meglisalp

Trail description

An 11.3 km climb of about 1,660 m from Wasserauen station past the Seealpsee and the Meglisalp, then over the Wagenlücke saddle (2,074 m) to the 2,502 m summit of the Säntis, the highest peak of the Alpstein. Wikipedia lists this as one of the marked ascents, at about 5 hours. Above the Meglisalp it is a mountain path, and the part above the Wagenlücke is a demanding mountain path (T3) for sure-footed hikers in good weather. A few spots on the last climb are secured with fixed cables, and the Gross Schnee snowfield on the way often holds snow into summer.
