Mürren to Gimmelwald

Trail description

A 1.9 km path between the car-free villages of Gimmelwald, at about 1,370 m, and Murren, on the cliffs above the Lauterbrunnen valley, with about 240 m of height difference. Most walkers go downhill from Murren in about an hour, and the Schilthorn cable car links both villages with Stechelberg in the valley below. Gimmelwald, a Walser village first mentioned in 1346, sits at the foot of the Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage area and is listed in the inventory of Swiss heritage.
