Trail description

A long route of 16.9 km and about 1,500 m of climbing from the Hotel Ďumbier in Liptovský Ján up the Jánska valley, over Sedlo Javorie, Prašivá and Krúpova hoľa to Ďumbier (2,046 m), the highest summit of the Low Tatras. The upper half is open ridge with no shelter. The ridge from Sedlo Javorie to Krúpova hoľa is open only in July, August and September; it is closed from 1 October to 30 June. Brown bears live in these mountains: make some noise in the forest and keep food packed away.
