Trail description
A 1.5 km walk with about 90 m of climbing from Hooker Valley Road on the Kea Point Track to the Kea Point viewpoint above Mueller Lake, in Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park. The park, established in October 1953, is named after Aoraki / Mount Cook, the highest mountain in New Zealand, and glaciers cover 40 per cent of its 707 km2. At the end of the last ice age, about 13,000 years ago, the park's glaciers fed a much larger glacier that filled the Hooker and Tasman valleys with hundreds of metres of ice.
