Trail description

Sanbonyari, 1,917 m, is the highest of the five Nasu peaks, on the border of Tochigi and Fukushima in Nikko National Park. This route crosses from the Nasu side past the Kengamine and Asahidake area and the Shimizudaira viewpoint to the summit. North of the top lies the Kagaminuma crater pond, home to Tohoku salamanders and forest green tree frogs. The name is said to come from three domains planting spears on the summit to mark their borders.
