Mount Maruyama from Kirifuri Kogen

Trail description

Maruyama, 1,689 m, rises above the Kisugedaira park on the Kirifuri Plateau in Nikko National Park. The climb follows the Tenku Kairo, a stairway of 1,445 steps laid where the ski lifts once ran, then a path to the summit. Many hikers add nearby Mount Akanagi for a half day out. Asian black bears live in these mountains, so carry a bear bell.
