A steep climb from Breuil-Cervinia to the Rifugio Duca degli Abruzzi at the Oriondé (2,810 m), at the foot of the Italian ridge of the Matterhorn. Some sections are rocky; return by the same path. The hut stands above 2,500 m: start early, carry warm layers and turn back if storms build.
