Trail description

The classic multi-day circuit around the Monviso from Pian del Re at the source of the Po. It goes through the Buco di Viso tunnel into France, over the Passo di Vallanta and the Passo di San Chiaffredo, and back past the Rifugio Quintino Sella and the Lago Grande di Viso. It is walked over several days with nights in the huts around the mountain, such as the Refuge du Viso, the Rifugio Vallanta and the Rifugio Quintino Sella; book the huts ahead in summer. The passes are near 2,800 m and snow can linger into July.
