Trail description

The loop starts at the Colle del Nivolet (2,612 m), the road pass on the watershed between Piedmont's Valle dell'Orco and the Aosta Valley's Valsavarenche in the Gran Paradiso National Park, and follows the plateau paths up to Lago Leità and Lago Rosset before returning to the pass. The two lakes lie close together on a small plateau at about 2,700 m and feed the Orco, which rises nearby and is dammed almost at once to form the Agnel and Serrù reservoirs. In summer, private traffic on the last stretch of road from Lago Serrù is regulated on set days, when vehicles need a Nivolet Card booked online, and park shuttles run up to the pass. The loop is about 5.5 km long, with some 220 m of climbing.
