Trail description

A 6.7 km climb of about 820 m to the summit of Mont Granier, 1,933 m, the limestone mountain between Savoie and Isere at the northern end of the Chartreuse. Its cliffs, about 900 m high, are among the highest in France. On 24 and 25 November 1248 a huge mass of limestone slid into the valley, destroying five villages and killing over a thousand people, and left the sheer 700 m north face.
