Trail description
An out and back climb into the Desolation Wilderness from the Twin Lakes trailhead at Wrights Lake, past Grouse Lake and Hemlock Lake to Smith Lake, the highest of the three. It is 8.9 km with about 540 m of climbing. A free Desolation Wilderness permit is needed even for day hikes; fill it in at the trailhead.
