Trail description
From the Hurst Road car park at Milford on Sea, this walk follows the shingle of Hurst Spit, a bank about 1.6 km long that shelters the Keyhaven and Pennington marshes, to Hurst Castle at its tip. Henry VIII built the castle to command the Needles Passage, and Charles I was probably held prisoner in its Tudor keep in 1648. The loose shingle makes for slow walking.
