Trail description

The Tour du lac de Derborence starts and ends at the Derborence PostBus stop, following the shore paths right round the Lac de Derborence and through the forest on its south side. The lake lies behind the debris of two large rockfalls from the Diablerets massif, on 23 September 1714 and 23 June 1749, and formed with the second. The forest on the south side, known as l'Ecorcha, is one of the last primeval forests in Switzerland, covering 25 hectares, with firs about 450 years old and up to 44 m tall. The loop is about 2.0 km and nearly level.
