Trail description

The main ridge of the Malá Fatra in one long day: from Strečno up the Starohradská valley to Chata pod Suchým, over Suchý, Stratenec and Malý Kriváň to Veľký Kriváň (1,709 m), the highest summit of the range, and down from Snilovské sedlo to the Vrátna chalet. It is 20 km and about 1,680 m of climbing, mostly on open ridge with no shelter between Chata pod Suchým and Snilovské sedlo. The gondola from Snilovské sedlo down to Vrátna can shorten the descent. Brown bears live in these mountains: make some noise in the forest and keep food packed away.
