Trail description
This 3.9 km loop follows the white posts through the Schadijkse Bossen, 525 hectares of forest west of Horst near America and Meterik. In the early 19th century this was open heath with drifting sand, planted with pines from the late 1800s to stop the sand and to supply pit props for the coal mines. In 2006 Staatsbosbeheer cleared the Schaaks Heide again for heath, and nightjars and woodlarks have returned.
