A 2.2 km walk on the Philosopher's Path in Kyoto, following a cherry-lined canal between Nanzen-ji and Ginkaku-ji. The path, opened in 1890 and extended in 1912, runs beside a channel fed by the Lake Biwa Canal, and takes its name from the philosopher Nishida Kitaro, said to have walked it daily. It passes temples and shrines including Honen-in, Otoyo Shrine and Eikan-do.
