Trail description

A crossing of Mount Rokko, 931 m, from Ashiyagawa station on the Kobe side to the old hot spring town of Arima. The route climbs past the Kazafuki-iwa rock to the summit area and goes down the north side on the Totoya-michi, the old path that carried fresh fish from the coast to Arima, past the Ikken-chaya rest house. Rokko is where Western-style mountaineering in Japan began in 1874; wild boar are common on the mountain, so keep food out of sight.
