Trail description

Mount Hiragatake, 2,141 m, is a flat-topped mountain on the border of Niigata and Gunma. The trail from the east climbs a long ridge over Shimo-Daikura-yama to the summit plateau. It is a very long day, about 20 km there and back. Asian black bears live in these mountains, so carry a bear bell and keep food packed away.
