Trail description

Mount Echigo-Komagatake, 2,003 m, is one of the three Echigo mountains with Hakkai and Nakanodake and one of the 100 famous mountains of Japan. From Shiori Pass the trail goes over Michiyuki-yama and Ogura-yama and along a long ridge to the Koma hut and the summit. Snow lies late on this mountain and patches remain even in midsummer. Asian black bears live in these mountains, so carry a bear bell and keep food packed away.
