Mount Aono Tsuwano

Trail description

Aonoyama, 907 m, is a lava dome in Tsuwano, Shimane, protected as a national natural monument and scenic place. This route climbs from the west on the Chugoku Nature Trail to the summit. Its bowl-shaped form makes it the symbol of Tsuwano town, and it was once a landmark for sailors on the Sea of Japan about 26 km away. Tani Buncho included it in his pictures of famous mountains of Japan.
