Ayamedaira from Hatomachi Pass

Trail description

Ayamedaira is a high moor of about 1,969 m in Oze National Park, on the ridge between Hatomachi and Fujimi passes. The trail climbs gently from Hatomachi Pass to the moor, where the view takes in Mount Hiuchi, Mount Shibutsu and the peaks all around. Crowds from the late 1950s trampled the bog, and parts of it are now under restoration, so stay on the boardwalks. Asian black bears live in these mountains, so carry a bear bell.
