Trail description
A 2.4 km climb of about 310 m from the Mount Major Highway to the rocky summit of Mount Major in Alton, New Hampshire, south of Lake Winnipesaukee. The mountain is part of the Belknap Range, and its summit is a popular hiking goal reached by several trails, the easiest being the Mount Major Trail, marked with blue dashes. Its north, east and south faces drain into Lake Winnipesaukee and on through the Winnipesaukee and Merrimack rivers to the Gulf of Maine.
