Trail description

Steep climb from Koko Head District Park in Hawaiʻi Kai, Oʻahu, straight up the old Koko Crater Tramway to the summit lookout of Koko Crater (Kohelepelepe) at about 1,208 ft (368 m). The US Army built the tramway during the Second World War to haul supplies to lookout posts on the rim; its railroad ties, once 1,048 of them, now serve as steep steps. Near the middle, a short bypass path avoids the section where the ties bridge a gap. The climb is fully exposed to the sun, so go early and carry plenty of water.
