Trail description

A steep 5.6 km climb of about 1,000 m from Ausable Club Road to the summit of Giant Mountain (1,410 m) in the Adirondacks, in the town of Keene. Giant is the twelfth-highest peak in New York and one of the 46 High Peaks of Adirondack Park, set in the Giant Mountain Wilderness Area. It is named for the way it towers over the low-lying Pleasant Valley to the east. The first recorded ascent was made on 2 June 1797 by Charles Brodhead and his survey party while surveying the Old Military Tract.
