Trail description

A 3 km climb on the Summit Trail in Elk Knob State Park, 9.5 miles (15 km) north of Boone, to the top of Elk Knob, the third-highest peak in Watauga County. The park opened in 2003 and is one of North Carolina's newest state parks.
