Trail description
A climb from the Byron Reece trailhead on the Gainesville Highway, on the trail relocated in 2026 and then the Appalachian Trail, to the summit of Blood Mountain (1,359 m), in the Chattahoochee National Forest and the Blood Mountain Wilderness. It is the highest peak on the Georgia section of the Appalachian Trail and the sixth tallest mountain in the state. Some believe its name comes from a bloody battle between the Cherokee and the Muscogee.
