Trail description
From the Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center the loop follows the C&O Canal towpath to Billy Goat Trail Section A, which scrambles over bare rock along the cliffs of Mather Gorge on the Potomac River, and returns on the towpath. The trail is hard going with a steep rock wall to climb; dogs are not allowed on Section A.
