Trail description
A 1.1 km climb on the Beacon Rock Trail to the top of Beacon Rock, an 848 ft (258 m) basalt volcanic plug on the north shore of the Columbia River in Beacon Rock State Park. Henry J. Biddle bought the rock in 1915 and built the trail with 51 switchbacks, handrails and bridges, finished in 1918. Lewis and Clark named the rock in 1805 and first measured tides on the river here.
