Trail description

A 7 km walk from the Adirondak Loj trailhead on the Van Hoevenberg Trail to Marcy Dam and on through Avalanche Pass to Avalanche Lake, a 9-acre (3.6 ha) lake at 2,885 ft (879 m) in the Adirondack High Peaks. The lake lies between Mount Colden and Avalanche Mountain, whose vertical cliffs rise straight from the water.
