Trail description

A steep 1.6 km climb from the Appalachian Trail kiosk on Route 9D, just east of the Bear Mountain Bridge, up the Appalachian Trail and the Camp Smith Trail to the top of Anthony's Nose, about 270 m. The first half mile climbs steadily, much of it on rock steps; after about 0.4 miles and nearly 400 ft of climbing the white-blazed Appalachian Trail turns off and the Camp Smith Trail continues. The open rock at the top looks up and down the Hudson River, down onto the Bear Mountain Bridge and across to Bear Mountain. Parking is only at the roadside on Route 9D and fills early.
