Alamere Falls

Trail description

A 6.4 km route with about 270 m of climbing between the Palomarin Trailhead at the end of Mesa Road near Bolinas and Alamere Falls, in Point Reyes National Seashore. Alamere Falls tumbles over fragile shale cliffs at Alamere Creek Beach straight into the ocean, one of only two coastal waterfalls in California along with McWay Falls. Above the main falls, Alamere Creek drops over three smaller cascades of 6 to 9 m. The beach below the falls is usually unsafe at high tide, and hikers are often trapped there.
