Trail description

A forest loop to the Dovbush Rocks (Skeli Dovbusha), from the car park on the forest road about 2 km west of Bubnyshche village in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. The path climbs through the forest to a complex of 22 sandstone rocks up to 80 m high, formed on a Paleogene seabed and given names such as Odynets, Tulip and Lion's Muzzle. Caves with hewn walls, sockets for wooden beams and a stone-vaulted well are traces of a medieval rock fortress and monastery. The loop circles the massif past picnic sites and returns along the same path to the car park. The rocks are named after the 18th-century outlaw Oleksa Dovbush, though local historians doubt he ever came here.
