Trail description

Starting from Donard Park car park in Newcastle, this route climbs beside the Glen River through old woodland of Scots pine, oak and birch, then follows a stony track up the open valley to the saddle with Slieve Commedagh. From the saddle it runs steeply beside the Mourne Wall to the summit, which at 850 metres is the highest point in Northern Ireland and carries two ancient burial cairns.
