Trail description

The North Downs Way National Trail from Farnham to Dover by its Canterbury branch: 212.7 km with 2,390 m of climb. It runs along the North Downs through the Surrey Hills and the Kent Downs, partly on the old Pilgrims' Way, past Box Hill and across the Medway to Boughton Lees, then turns north-east through Chilham to Canterbury Cathedral and on to the White Cliffs of Dover. At Boughton Lees the trail splits: its southern branch runs from Boughton Lees through Wye and over the downs above Folkestone to Dover. There are some big hills and steep climbs; the trail can be walked all year, and the National Trail gives its length as 153 miles (246 km) and suggests about 12 days.
