Trail description

From the Dodd Wood car park opposite Mirehouse on the A591, a waymarked route climbs forest tracks through Forestry England woodland to the summit of Dodd. The 502 m top was cleared of conifers from 2001 and now looks over Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwentwater. Ospreys nest near the southern end of Bassenthwaite Lake, and a viewing platform sits in the wood.
